We use both. Hard wax is gentler when it comes to sensitive areas such as Bikini and Brazilian. Strip wax is perfect for the larger areas such as legs, arms and back.
No, never. A clean, safe, environment is priority one for us. We make sure we adhere to BC Standards for sterilization of all products.
When you wax, the whole piece of hair is removed, including the root. This means it takes longer for the hair to grow back. When you shave, you just cut the hair off at the surface. This causes stubble and the hair continues to grow because the root is still intact.
For best results, hair should be about 1/2 an inch. This means, waiting about 2 weeks after shaving before you should wax.
If you’re using a topical skin cream, you can still get facial waxing services. It is suggested that you stop using the cream for about a week prior to your service and several days after. You will have a higher sensitivity to the waxing service.
If you are taking a skin care medication such as Accutane/Isotretinoin, you cannot be waxed under any circumstances. Accutane thins the skin and if you were to be waxed, there is a high risk for the skin to tear during service. If you have stopped taking Accutane, you need to wait about 6 months before resuming waxing services.
Yes definitely. Just like women if you have any unwanted hair we will remove it for you.
There is a discomfort associated with waxing, but this is also partly based on every individual having a different tolerance level to pain. However, over time, the discomfort that is felt should decrease, as long as you do not shave between your waxing services.
A mild pain killer such as Tylenol can be taken about 40-45 minutes prior to your appointment. For ladies who prefer Brazilian waxes, try to avoid your Brazilian service the week prior to your period; it has the potential to be more painful. This area is more sensitive than normal, which will increase your pain.
This is a variable as people get waxed at different times during the hair growth cycles. There are 3 types of hair cycles and depending where you are in the growth cycles, as well as how fast your hair grows, will determine how long your wax will last.
It is recommended to avoid tanning or intense heat for at least 48 hours pre and post waxing services.
You will want to wax at least 3 days prior to the event. Everyone is different and while reactions are rare, you don’t want to be dealing with an issue the day before an event.
You want to avoid touching the waxed area. Bacteria from your fingers can spread into the freshly opened follicle and this can cause breakouts.
For facial waxing, you want to avoid applying make-up or creams for several hours. Avoid working out, exposure to the sun, extreme water temperatures and fragrant lotions for 48 hours. For a Brazilian wax, you want to avoid intercourse for 48 hours as well. Keep the skin clean with mild soap and water.
